Midtown Parks

Washington Park 1600 Summit

3.5 acres, Washington Park was established in 1869, and named for a revolutionary army general of distinction. Midtown adopted Washington Park in 1989 and has brought about a renovation funded from Springfield's quarter cent sales tax and Department of Conservation grants. On Sept. 26, 2000 the gazebo was dedicated as part of a series of renovations including historic lighting, signage, walkways, plantings, playground equipment and corner treatments. Located in the heart of Midtown, Washington Park brings neighbors together for picnics, music, recreation and family fun.

Concerts in Washington Park

In the summer of 2001, Midtown kicked off our "Music in the Park" series. Past performers have included The Garbonzos, Poco Loco, Radio Flyer, Jim & Kim Lansford, Lyal Strictland, and The Gallier Brothers. The concerts and refreshments are free of charge. Bring a lawn chair, a picnic dinner and your friends and family.
